SMARTfund

Options for the Investment Manager

There are several options available to the Investment Manager:

1. Supply models for SMARTfund

Investment Managers can make their models available within each SMARTfund as new sub-funds. These models could either ‘mirror’ existing funds managed by the Investment Manager, or could follow any new mandate.

These models could be made available to all SMARTfund investors and/or to any Financial Adviser branded funds. Investment management and performance fees can be negotiated on a SMARTfund by SMARTfund basis.

2. Supply models for a SMARTfund created by a Financial Adviser

Investment Managers may design models to meet specific mandates as requested by Financial Advisers who create their own funds using the SMARTfund structure.

Alternatively, Financial Advisers who create Multi-Manager or risk-profile based funds may simply choose to invest in units issued by existing funds offered by the Investment Manager.

3. Set up your own SMARTfund

Investment Managers can also set up their own branded SMARTfund, with the option to maintain SMARTfund Administration Ltd (which maintains the Fund Management component of Præmium's SMA Services) in the Fund Manager role, or, subject to their authorisations, take on the role of Fund Manager themselves.

SMARTfund Administration acts as Fund Manager

If SMARTfund Administration Ltd undertakes the role of Fund Manager, the Investment Manager can brand the technology and legal structure to deliver the product to the market. Distribution can then be achieved through the Investment Manager’s established channels, or as a means to access new distribution channels with a new offering.

Præmium provide the infrastructure for Investment Managers own SMARTfund

In this scenario, Præmium would provide the technology and infrastructure used to run the Investment Manager’s own service in order to create their own SMARTfunds. Within each SMARTfund, the Investment Manager could choose to include models created themselves, or to incorporate models created by other investment houses. In addition, the Investment Manager can allow adviser firms to replicate this SMARTfund and, if appropriately authorised, add their own models.
